The Best Mud Pie in Kailua Kona

After searching for the best mud pie on the island, I am pretty sure I found it. The mud pie at Big Island Grill was D-E-L-I-C-I-O-U-S!

Mud Pie is made with Kona coffee ice-cream in a oreo crust, covered by fudge, whip cream and macadamia nuts. The oreo crust was freshly made and very buttery and crisp. The homemade crust sent this desert over the top!

Your mouth will water when you see this video. I show you just what makes this mud pie so good in this video. Watch below.

Kona Brewing Company Restaurant

While they are well known for their beer, Kona Brewing Company also had great food. I really enjoyed their pizza while eating in their shaded outdoor patio.

The crust of the pizza is perfect and is made from spelt wheat, the same that they use to brew their beers, so it gives the crust a great flavor. That is their secret weapon to great pizza. The marinara sauce of the pizza is also made fresh and gives the pizza a bright savory taste.

Check out what else they have at the Kona Brewery in this video review.

Best Shaved Ice – Ululani’s

No trip to Hawaii is complete without trying shaved ice. Ululani’s was the winner in my book for best shaved ice with locations on the Big Island and Maui. The ice is finely shaved and the fruit juices are made inhouse with real fruit. So refreshing on Hawaiian sunny days.

Check out Ululanis in downtown Kona Hawaii. My favorite flavors are mango, passion fruit, coconut and guava. Try the snow cap on top which is sweetened condensed milk.

Best Shaved Ice on Big Island Hawaii can be found at Ululani's. Find our where to get more best treats on the blog.

Best Kept Secret – Great Sunset Views & Cocktails!

For an amazing view of the sunset and refreshing cocktails, visit Daylight Mind Company Coffee Company.

I always go right up to the top deck after I’ve ordered my favorite cocktail, a Passionfruit Mojito, and enjoy the spectacular views of the ocean as the sun goes down. The top deck is open on most days unless it is reserved for a private event. It has open seating and I never find it crowded up there.

If you aren’t into Mojios, try a Lilikoi Margarita. Lilikoi is passionfruit in Hawaii and it adds an amazing flavor to drinks.

Daylight Mind also sells coffee and tea, or, you can eat a meal at the restaurant for breakfast lunch or dinner. The restaurant’s pork ribs and cornbread are my favorites, truly delicious! I’d recommend to pass on the brisket which was a bit dry during my visits.

Best Poke in Kailua Kona

Da Poke Shack on Alli Drive is the best in Kailua Kona. You can choose from a variety of poke prepared with different seasonings.

Umeke’s is also a popular place for poke in Kailua-Kona but Da Poke Shack gets my vote for best tasting and better prices as well.
