Is the Greatever Full Face Snorkel Mask Worth It? What I Personally Use Instead

Full-face snorkel masks have made snorkeling easier than ever, especially for first-timers. If you’re trying snorkeling for the first time — or you’ve never loved the traditional two-piece mask and snorkel (like me) — a full-face mask can be a game changer. They let you breathe through both your nose and mouth, which just feels more natural.

But BEFORE you grab the cheapest one you see, there are a few things you should know.

One model that often comes up when people start searching is the Greatever full-face snorkel mask. It’s widely available online and priced lower than many well-known brands, which makes it appealing — but there are a few things worth knowing before choosing it.

I totally understand the appeal — it’s cheaper. If two snorkel masks look similar, it’s tempting to choose the lower-priced option. But after snorkeling for years and trying many different full-face masks, I’ve learned that not all of them are built the same, particularly when it comes to airflow, fit, and comfort. Price isn’t always the most important factor, especially when you’re spending time in the water.

Why Budget Full-Face Snorkel Masks Can Be Hit or Miss

I haven’t personally tested the Greatever mask specifically, but I have tried plenty of budget full-face snorkel masks that use similar designs. My experience has been pretty consistent:

The seal isn’t always reliable (water will leak into masks if the seal is not reliable)
Airflow can feel restricted. (this means you may have to spend less time in the water and take more breaks from snorkeling)
Fogging happens more often (which means you can miss special sights underwater — very frustrating!)

These things don’t always make a mask unusable — but they can make your snorkeling experience less comfortable, especially if you’re in the water for longer periods.

Why I Personally Stick With These Two Masks

After trying many different masks, I keep going back to two that have worked consistently well for me:

I’ve taken both around the world with me — snorkeling in Hawaii, the Caribbean, Indonesia, and many more places. Both of these use dual-airflow systems and are designed with comfort and safety in mind. They also tend to have:

Better sealing around the face (This helps keep water out of the mask)
More consistent airflow (Fresh air is so important when snorkeling!)
Less fogging (a fogged mask is the worst! Avoid it with a quality mask)
More comfortable fit for longer sessions.

Price vs Experience: What Matters Most?

You may notice cheaper full-face snorkel masks that look very similar. I’ve tried too many budget versions over the years, and the fit and airflow just weren’t as consistent as the ones I recommend here. I ended up throwing all of them away.

But they cost more, right? True, but this may help: I’ve used mine for years, so the cost per trip ends up being extremely low — and the comfort difference in the water is noticeable.

So, investing in a well-designed mask can make a big difference.

My Recommendation

If budget is your top priority, I understand why masks like the Greatever masks are appealing.

But based on my experience with many similar lower-cost masks, I personally prefer sticking with brands that focus on proper airflow design and long-term comfort.

For me, the goal is simple: easy, relaxed, stress-free snorkeling — and a well-designed full-face mask really helps with that.
