Quick Summary – Casa Barco Boutique Hotel is a unique, clean and modern hotel great for solo travelers, couples, or groups of people who want to rent various rooms in the hotel.  The price is under $100 a night making it budget friendly.  The location is ideal with walkability to downtown Isla Mujeres where there are many restaurants, places to shop, live music and access to the beach.

Casa Barco Boutique Hotel Review – The Juicy Details

Casa Barco is a Boutique Hotel with 6 unique rooms to choose from. Each room’s decor is creatively different from each other, including a few that look like a master suite inside of a ship. Can you say Instagram worthy? Absolutely! For a cookie cutter hotel room that looks like every other basic hotel room, this is not the one!

You’ll find a common ship theme throughout the hotel. The exception to the ship themed rooms was my suite which gave me sophisticated feminie vibes decorated with soft blush pink hues and french provincial style furniture.

There was a darling vanity table where you could sit and get ready for the day.  Other beautiful details included a crystal chandelier and decorative wall paper that looked like it belonged in a mansion in Paris. I loved the decor.

The small velvety pink couch in the room was also a nice touch to the decor.

Cleanliness – 10/10

Very important, especially these days, is cleanliness. The room was extremely clean with maid service daily. The hotel is well kept all throughout the property. I’d rate it a 10/10 for cleanliness.

Comfort 10/10

The room was comfortable and very large. I slept like a dream in the King sized bed to rest from my daily adventures in Isla Mujeres.

Bathroom 10/10

The bathroom was stylish, modern, clean and included a large shower and separate bathtub.  The rainfall showhead was heavenly (I really need one of those at home) and it had awesome water pressure.

Was the water hot? God Yes! This can sometimes be an issue when traveling to Mexico but certainly not at Casa Barco.

Rooftop Deck

Let’s talk about the rooftop deck.  There is a pool that is lovely to relax in after a long day or to sit by and catch some rays midday.  There is an outdoor kitchen and table open to the guests to use anytime. The pool hours end at 9pm, although if you are quiet I don’t think it’s a problem.  I went to the pool past 9 and silently enjoyed the warm tropical night while relaxing in the pool, no one even noticed I was there.  Although I think 9pm is kind of early to end official pool hours, I suppose it’s a courtesy to the guests who are staying on the same floor. There are 2 rooms on opposite sides of the deck. This is something to keep in mind when you choose a room if you don’t want to be next to the pool.

There is a beautiful mosaic tile art piece beside the pool that is stunning.  I really enjoyed the details around the property.

Lastly, there is a shared modern kitchen and dining space if any quests want to use it.  (watch the video for a tour).  I made coffee and put some beverages in the fridge, but that’s about all I needed the kitchen for.  I did check the cabinets out of curiosity and found it well stocked with pots, pans, utensils.  Because the food is very affordable in Isla Mujeres, I doubt many guests cook in the kitchen.

In the fridge, each guest has their own bin labeled with their room number that you can put your food in. That way, each guest can keep their stuff separate.

There is filtered water for guests in the kitchen. A nice bonus since you cannot drink the tap water in Isla Mujeres.

Service 10/10

The staff was all courteous and professional. Check-In was easy and I was greeted by a staff member, Kat, who spoke English.  Kat checked me in and shared a map of Isla Mujeres and explained what’s around, suggestions and things to do.

Safety 10/10

I always felt safe and secure in or around the hotel. The room has a safe if you would like to put away personal belongings.

Location 10/10

The building is in downtown Isla Mujeres, but not on any of the main streets so it’s very quiet.  Casa Barco is in an ideal location close to everything. Within a few minutes of stepping outside the hotel, you have a plethora of restaurants to eat, places for coffee and places to shop.

The ferry is a 3 minute walk away. I easily walked with suitcases from the ferry to the hotel.

The beach is a 5 minute walk away. I say 5 minutes loosely because the hotel is really within 1 block of the water where there are restaurants and boat docks, however, to get to the part of the beach where you would lounge and go for a plunge in the ocean, you’ll want to walk down to Playa Centro. Also, Playa Norte is about a 10 – 15 minute walk depending on your walking pace.

Would I Visit Again?

I really enjoyed my 6 night stay at Casa Barco Hotel and I would definitely stay there again.  It provided total comfort, cleanliness and style.
