When I tell people I traveled to Puerto Morelos, Mexico, they say “where is that?”

I am not surprised by the reaction because I had never heard about it until I did some research on beach towns in the Riviera Maya just this year (2020).  This small town just 20-25 minutes from Cancun and Playa Del Carmen seems to be a well kept secret…for now.

I found Puerto Morelos because I knew I wanted to visit the Cancun Riviera Maya area but wasn’t really interested in the huge resort town of Cancun and preferred a small town feel with enough activities to keep me busy. Also, I love to snorkel and was looking for where I could best access the coral reef for snorkeling without overpriced snorkel excursions from Cancun.

That’s when I came across Puerto Morelos who has part of the 2nd barrier reef in the world right off its shoreline. This reef extends all the way to Belize and Honduras!

Upon my first day in Puerto Morelos walking the town, I felt like I had just found the perfect beach town in Mexico for me. It’s welcoming, full of color and quaint restaurants, you can walk everywhere, it’s full of beautiful flowers and that’s all on top of the gorgeous beaches that the Mexican Caribbean is known for.

A video is worth a thousand words so I am sharing this video of my first walk through the town. I hope that you feel my excitement and awe as you watch this video. It’s my true first expressions in real time as I was seeing everything for the first time.

Has this video inspired you? I’ll be sharing more about Puerto Morelos including things to do, a guide and all about the snorkeling soon. To be the first to watch the new videos or read the next blog post, you can subscribe to the channel on youtube and also subscribe to the blog.

Will I see you on the next video adventure with me? It will be exciting, so see you on the next adventure!
