Sagrada Familia – Awe Inspiring Sight To See In Barcelona
This masterpiece has become one of the top landmarks to see in all of Spain and rising as one of the must-see places in the entire world.
The design is so intricate that it is still under construction to this day!
Expression of Color
The colors in the cathedral are absolutely stunning. Different arrays of colors brighten up the cathedral as light shines through the stain colored glass. The mood changes hourly with clever use of color. As the sun shifts from sunrise to sunset, the colors change to illuminate the cathedral with altering colors like red, orange to blue and green.
They say within the hour of sunrise to sunset, you can witness to the most dramatic change of colors and scenery. It’s a great time for photographers.
Who created such a intricate and modern design over 100 years ago?
The designer, Antoni Gaudi, created the architectural masterpiece of the Sagrada Familia. He is also known as “God’s Architect.” As a devout Catholic, creating the Sagrada Familia was apart of his devotion to God.
He also loved colors and nature which he incorporated into the design of the Sagrada Familia.
As you walk through the cathedral, it is meant to feel like you are in a forest. Look up at the columns and you will see what resembles tree branches.
From what I learned about Gaudi’s intentions behind this, he wanted the Sagrada Familia to be a place where one could come to learn as if the cathedral were an open book and classroom.
If you are a fan of imaginative architecture, color and playful design, you may be interested in visiting more of Gaudi’s famous architectural buildings in Barcelona like Casa Vicens, Casa Batllo and Park Guell.
