Where To Stay In Puerto Rico’s West Side / Aguadilla
In Puerto Rico, I stayed at one of the best Airbnb’s I’ve ever stayed in. It’s everything you dream an Airbnb should be. It has amazing hospitality, home away from home vibes and the decor and details of each unit will make you feel like the Airbnb was designed just for you.
I can wholeheartedly say I know anyone who stays at this Airbnb creatively named, the “Lair of The Octopus”, will love it!!!

How I Found The Lair Of The Octopus
While taking a road trip to the west side of Puerto Rico near Aguadilla, I found the Lair’s Airbnb on a whim. To be honest, before I found the Lair, I had booked a terrible Airbnb in San Juan for the first part of my trip. (A story for another day). I was looking forward to finding another Airbnb for a few nights so that I could relax on the best side of Puerto Rico – the west side!
Here is a little to see on the west side of Puerto Rico. Its’ gorgeous there.
My roadtrip for my day ended at Crash Boat beach in Aguadilla PR. The sun was soon to set and I looked for a last minute place to stay nearby for the night while sitting in the beach parking lot.
That’s when I found the Lair of the Octopus.
It was just 5 minutes from where I was at Crash Boat Beach. Within 30 minutes of booking, I checked in at the Lair.
When I opened the door to see the room, I was amazed. The design was beautiful! It felt like I was in a magazine. See for yourself how beautiful the design is in this video:
The small touches is also what makes this place extra special. When I entered the room, there was a greeting card on the table to welcome me.
The decor was gave me wonderful vacay island vibes.
In the room, there was even an electric fly/mosquito swatter which works like a charm! Why didn’t I have one of those? (After the trip, I even brought one of my own when I returned home.)
It was also immaculately clean which is very important to most all people traveling now.
The sun was about to set, so I headed up to the rooftop deck to check out the sunsets over Aguadilla, Puerto Rico. The view was spectacular! You could see the sun setting over the ocean while listening to the birds sing their last song for the day.
The small details is what makes this Airbnb extra special. You can tell they thought out every need and want of a guest and made sure that the Lair met all of those needs. For instance, have you ever been to a vacation rental and realized they were missing the small things like an extra towel, a wine opener, can opener, cutting board or proper storage space to make the home functional? It can be frustrating because those things can all be important things to a traveler.
The Lair had all bases covered. Think about the mosquito swatter I mentioned was in the room. That’s so thoughtful to provide for a tropical destination. My mind was blown! Every hotel and Airbnb in the tropics should provide one of those, wouldn’t you agree?

Additional Rooms At The Lair
After my first night, I decided to book additional nights at the Lair. My first night was in the “Green Room” which was booked for the remaining nights so I chose another room called the “Flamingo Room.”
Each of their 8 rooms have a different theme and is beautifully created with love. I enjoyed being able to sample multiple rooms on the trip. The Flamingo became my favorite room. Not to mention I have a thing for Flamingos!

A Puerto Rico Travel Tip Before You Finish This Post:
One thing I would like to say about traveling to Puerto Rico, please make sure to see more than just San Juan. There is so much more to Puerto Rico than that. I liked the west side of Puerto Rico in Aguadilla much better than San Juan. The west side and even Isabella (on the north-west) has more laid back vibes and the beaches are better than those in San Juan, in my opinion.

Old San Juan is definitely a must see and a place to spend a few days, but the island of Puerto Rico has much more to offer, so plan to explore. Make your way over the the Lair Of The Octopus on your journey or use it as a home base for all your Puerto Rico adventures.
