A Taste Of Spanish Summer – Tinto De Verano Recipe

Every sip of Tinto De Verano reminds me of Spain on a lovely hot summer day.  Tinto de verano, which means “summer red,” is a refreshing wine cocktail popular with the Spanish locals and it’s one of my favorite drink discoveries from my travels in Spain. Today, I want to share with you how you can experience this taste of Spanish summer at home.

My first sip of Tinto De Verano was on a hot summer evening in Sevilla Spain.  I was in the mood to celebrate my first night in Sevilla after arriving by train from Barcelona. I asked the waiter for Sangria, but they had no more left so the waiter introduced me to a new drink I never tried before. Something new, exciting! The taste was similar to Sangria, but I found the ice cold cocktail delightfully refreshing! Since then, Tinto (short for Tinto De Verano) has become one of my favorite drinks. Every time I have it, it gives me a little taste of summer in Spain. 

Tinto de Verano is also one of the most simple cocktails I have ever made. It is perfect to make for get togethers with friends and lounging on a hot day.
